It’s never too early to start caring for your child’s teeth….

vitamin D

Doctor Wags and the staff at KidstoothDoc thought you might like to know about some of the latest research involving Vitamin D and the higher risk of caries in the teeth of babies. We are not talking about newborns receiving enough Vitamin D – we are talking about pregnant moms receiving enough Vitamin D. In a study published in Pediatrics (April 21, 2014), Canadian researchers found that the calcification levels of children’s teeth can be adversely affected if their mothers had inadequate vitamin D levels when pregnant. This increased the risk of poor quality enamel and early childhood caries. So moms – drink your milk and spend some time outdoors! (Using sunscreen of course!)
